Thank you friends!
Hoping everyone is surviving the storm well. I am writing to let all our extremely generous NBCA neighbors know how well the Holiday Drive went this past season. Using Amazon wish lists provided by the agencies made our shopping so much easier. Many, many financial donations came in, allowing us to “brighten up” the staff gift cards. All known wishes were able to be met. A team of wrappers met at my house and prepared two lovely packages for each resident of the homes and

Pier Avenue stop sign update
Police Chief Frost has sent out active enforcement to monitor the speed on Pier. While traffic is lighter at this time of year, the cars and especially trucks are still going too fast. A patrol car presence should help. He will put up a speed box when the weather is better to determine actually how many are going too fast. Stay safe through the storm this weekend. Think spring!

Watch Out for Scams
Scammers have been impersonating Town of Riverhead departments. They are out to steal your money and your identity. They send emails that appear very official, with what looks like the town seal and town letterhead. These emails even include the recipient’s personal information. The resident is directed to pay (fraudulent) charges. However, if you pay, the money actually goes to scammers—often overseas. These criminals use public records to make their messages look real

Traffic Safety meeting
Attended: Police Chief Edward Frost Assistant Tammy More Highway Superintendent Mike Zaleski I attended the Traffic Safety Committee meeting Thursday morning to request consideration for a stop sign on Pier Ave. I presented comments from the NBCA website blog, a signed petition from concerned neighbors and other emails and texts that I had received. Chief Frost agreed to check out the road. He will check the signage already in place and put up a speed box for an exte

Make Pier Ave safer
Hello neighbors As 10 year residents on Pier Avenue, we have watched the traffic become faster and more dangerous, not only for us living there but for anyone turning onto or walking on the very narrow shoulder. Those of us that walk or run every day know how difficult it is. I learned that there is a Traffic Safety meeting at Town Hall next week. I plan to attend to ask for a stop sign midway between Sound Ave and Iron Pier Beach. I believe it will slow traffic considerab

Mike's North Fork Moment of the Month
It’s a little sad to see some of the old wooden barns on the North Fork fall into disrepair and sometimes collapse. Sadder still was my assumption that the number of such structures would only decrease, that any new barns would be of the metal shed variety. I’m very happy to have been proven wrong over the last few years. Beginning with the Henpecked Husband Farms barn on Northville Turnpike and followed by the North Fork Flower Farm barn in Southold, among others, I can see
