Here's an update on the Town's Comprehensive Plan. Please be aware this is my take on the situation and my take alone. At last week's work session the Town Board considered the input they have received on the Plan update. It was pretty clear to me they plan to move forward with little or no consideration being given to the sentiment of the residents. Developers clearly have the inside track with this Town Board.


The issue of most concern to me is the Sound Avenue corridor. Despite considerable opposition,, the Town Board is moving forward to allow luxury resorts on the bluffs of the Sound--the first just to the west of Briermere. It's a complicated issue and it also involves allowing vertical farming--think stacked greenhouse structures to grow crops hydroponically as well as solar on farmland to supply electricity to these structures.


All this to say, if you would like the Town to pause and reconsider this approach, here's a letter you can send to the Town Board. The sooner the better. The email address is: townclerk@townofriverheadny.gov
