Quick update on the proposed Catsimatidis housing subdivision on URT property. I posted about it on this blog back in December when the application was submitted to the Town. Since then I have twice sought updated information from the Planning Department and as of last week was advised nothing has been received or generated regarding this proposal since December. Evidently it is not on the front burner but I will continue to monitor and keep you posted.
On another big issue in Town, not in our neighborhood, but of interest if you don't want an 80-acre swath of industrial recycling south of Sound Avenue. The owner of a recycling center in Oceanside NY called Patriot has attempted to relocate his odiferous composting/mulching recycling operations to a 45-acre parcel on Youngs Avenue. The parcel is adjacent to the 35-acre Crown recycling center that recently had a catastrophic fire. Patriot has been dumping huge loads of very smelly material that has made life unbearable for surrounding neighbors. They loudly and clearly expressed their outrage to the Town Board two weeks ago for allowing this to happen. A week later the Town posted a stop-work order at the property which a truck driver read and immediately ignored dumping yet another stinking load. There is a lot more to this story and here are two articles that will bring you up to date should you be interested.
