Gifts to R.I.S.E.

  • Hi Everyone! As the Spring is finally springing, I want to fill you in on the conclusion of our donations to RISE from this past holiday season. You may recall that we met all of the Christmas wishes for the 7 residents of the RISE group home on Sound Shore Road, as well as additional wishes for attendees of the day program there. We (thanks Jonathan and Rene of The Cooperage) provided delicious hot meals for 32 staff and residents, and lots of sweets (thanks John Cullen and NOFO donuts!) All was made possible due to the strong link our friends the Benthals have made with the program. Some of us later got to attend an appreciation luncheon at the new building for the day program. So lovely. As I mentioned in January, our neighborhood generosity knew no bounds and we had money left over. Brainstorming with the staff at RISE, we recently purchased 6 sturdy Adirondack chairs which were delivered Monday. These are much appreciated, NBCA has been "so kind, so generous". And the total bill for the chairs was just $10 different from our total donated! Heartfelt thanks to all who participated in this effort. I look forward to working together with you all during the next holiday season. Nancy Winkler
