The Northville Beach Civic Association was formed on September 26, 1956 “to exercise, promote and protect the privileges and interests of the residents of the community of Northville; to foster a healthy interest in the civic affairs of the community; to develop good citizenship; and to inquire into civic abuses and to seek reformation thereof."

NBCA ACTIVITIES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Represented the neighborhood in opposition to the proposed URT oil storage facility expansion and biofuel storage. • Participated in the preservation of Northville Preserve. • Ongoing participation in the East End Helicopter Noise Task Force (at peak times we had averaged 80-100 aircraft a day - 90% helicopters. Thanks to the perseverence of John Cullen and others we now average about 10 seaplanes on the busiest days). • Ongoing partnering with the Town and the Riverhead Police regarding Sound Avenue traffic control during the Fall season. • Successfully petitioned the Town to reduce the speed limit on Sound Shore Road. • Installation of seasonal electronic speed control signs on Pier Ave thanks to Nancy & Jim Beckman • The awarding of scholarships for college students at our summer Scholarship Party. • Hosting of regular social gatherings for members throughout the year. • Providing meals and gifts for the annual Holiday Party for the residents and staff of RISE, complete with a visit by our very own Santa, Tony Yarusso. Current issues: • Proposed warehouses at EPCAL which John Cullen, Linda Prizer and Kathy McGraw have been tirelessly fighting on our behalf at town meetings. If the facilities are built as proposed we could expect up to 25,000 vehicles a day, in addition to cargo planes and freight trains coming through EPCAL. • Traffic issues at the intersections of Penny’s Rd, Sound Ave & Nortville Turnpike due to the Waterdrinker Family Farm and the proposed Del Vino Vineyards tasting room. • Short term rental guidelines
